Home Inspections
Hi, and welcome to the AccuSpec LLC home inspection website, serving the Golden Triangle area (Columbus, Starkville, and West Point, MS). I'm still working on it, and probably always will be. Some pages are still under construction, and will have little or no content until I can get to them.
You may notice that the "voice" of these pages is casual and conversational in nature. I wanted it to be as if we were sitting at the kitchen table together, talking it over. There's a lot of "I","me", and "my" in here because as a small independent contractor I am solely responsible for all policys, procedures, and decisions relating to this business. Like most inspection outfits, I'm a one man show...which means if I perform your inspection, I will be personally handling every detail. I chose to emphasize that point rather than pretend I'm a big-shot with a bunch of employees, trucks, etc.
There is a lot of content covering a lot of topics on these pages, and I hope I have everything you're interested in knowing about. The headings are pretty self-explanatory, so have at it. If you have a suggestion for a page I don't have, or any comment about the site, please drop me an email (brian@accuspecllc.com).
Should you always get a home inspection? Absolutely. With so much at stake, it only makes sense to protect yourself. How do you know what kind of shape that house is really in? Sure it looks okay, but what if you climb up on the roof, look around in the attic, in the crawl space, inside the cabinets and electrical panels, and on and on. The plain fact is, until someone does that (and does it right) you really don't know. You're gambling. The real question is, can you afford to lose? A thorough, professional inspection of the home will give you a clear understanding of the true condition of the home, before you make that huge commitment. You really can't lose. You get either a chance to negotiate repairs (before you buy), a chance to walk away (if it's really bad), or peace of mind (little or no problems). They're all worth the money.
But every inspection is not thorough and professional. Unfortunately, there are many home inspectors who make a good living out of not rocking the boat. They never find much, and report even less. Anything they do find and report will be minimized, soft-soaped to death, and buried someplace in the middle of the report. According to them nothing is ever really a problem. BULL. You need an inspector who takes his work seriously, pursues education daily, and knows who his client is (you, not the realtor). You need a picky hardhead who tells it like it is, and goes the extra mile for his clients. That's exactly the kind of inspector I am.
I've helped homebuyers all over the Golden Triangle to learn the truth before they bought, and have peace of mind after. Using my experience and expertise, I'll help you make sure the investment in your new home is as safe as possible. I'll provide a detailed, plain-English report that's easy to understand, and I'll review it with you in person. I think you'll find the experience enjoyable, educational, and very valuable.
